Welcome to my garden! And thank you for stopping by.I hope that you will find something to interest you.
I am a lifelong gardener. My first garden was a 2’ x 2’ square along the foundation of the house my family lived in when I was in elementary school.I grew green zinnias because I was fascinated by the concept of green flowers.I’m still fascinated by green flowers and I still grow green zinnias.
I’m a Master Gardener now.I highly recommend the Master Gardener course to anyone with an interest in gardening. The course is available in every state.Just call or email your local agricultural extension office for information on when and where the classes are being held near you.
I’m a longtime volunteer at Rutgers Gardens, the arboretum and botanic garden of Rutgers University, the state university of New Jersey.I’m also the Garden Steward for the Herb Garden. The Herb Garden is a challenge because there is no irrigation. The only moisture is rainfall so I can only grow drought tolerant herbs.I also grow out and sell herbs for our big plant sale in May.Every year I write a catalog describing all of the herbs that we are selling including eighteen different kinds of basil!
I’ve owned two houses, both of which had shady yards, so I’ve become an “expert” on shade-loving flowers and shrubs. When I moved into a townhouse with a sunny front yard I didn’t know what to plant. There were too many choices.
I hope you enjoy your stroll through my garden. Please note that I have moved my hubs on herbs to my website, Advice From the Herb Lady (http://advicefromtheherblady.com).
If you have any questions that aren’t addressed here, please contact me.I will be happy to answer you, maybe I’ll even write a hub about it!
