I retired early from a first career as an electrical engineer and a second career as a patent attorney. As an electrical engineer, I developed and tested oceanographic sensing systems, combat control systems for U.S. Navy submarines, and engine control systems for commercial and military aircraft. As a patent attorney, I worked at a large private law firm where I helped my corporate clients protect their intellectual property, and then worked in-house for a large multi-national technology-focused corporation where I provided intellectual property advice and started an in-house patent practice.
My wife and I have raised two wonderful children, and are on the verge of becoming empty nesters (along with our elderly dog, a gentle smooth-coated collie). We've had the opportunity to live in states across the country, and we enjoy vacationing whereever there are good bagels and coffee. I have a lifetime interest in financial and retirement planning, and enjoy helping people find practical and creative ways to meet their financial and life goals with their available resources.
