I love Halloween, but that's not all! I am the Halloween Kitchen Witch, but I consider myself a witch of all trades.

Serve up a creepy Halloween recipe in a plastic bowl with a skeleton propped up against it for some ghoulish fun. Spooky serving containers or table settings will make your creepy food ideas even more frightening. But it's a fun kind of scary.

This green dip is made with easy-to-find ingredients, and it is served up with blue chips to add a bit of spooky to the dippers and the green salsa. Fun stuff that's unusual or a bit scary-looking is the best kind of Halloween food idea I can think of. And the best part is, you don't have to go out and buy any fancy ingredients... these recipes are all made with regular food that's probably in your kitchen pantry.

How To Make This Green Slime Salsa Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 pack Frozen Spinach - thawed & I hand squeeze it to drain all the water
  • 4 ounces Cream Cheese - softened
  • 1/2 cup of Sour Cream
  • 1/3 cup of Mild Salsa - unless you want it spicier
  • 2 Green Onions - chopped
  • 1 clove Garlic - minced
  • 1/2 teaspoon Salt
  • Blue Corn Tortilla Chips - I like the way the blue ones look

Directions:

  1. Drain your spinach and then squeeze out any extra water until the spinach is pretty dry.
  2. Get your food processor and put the spinach, the cream cheese, the salsa, the sour cream, the garlic, and the salt in. Puree it to mix. Pour the contents of the processor into a bowl, cover the bowl and chill in the refrigerator until the slime salsa is slightly thick.
  3. Put into a spooky looking bowl, place the blue tortilla chips around it on a platter and serve.

There are lots of different tortilla chips out there, I just thought the blue ones would look...weird. You can use any brand or color tortilla chip you like. Those multi-colored veggie ones would look a bit strange served with this salsa too.

Gooey Salsa Verde

You can find some slimy green salsa at your local food store, I got mine in Trader Joe's, the name reads Trader Jose's! You might not find this same brand but I am sure you can find green salsa in most stores. Look in the salsa aisle for Salsa Verde. It's yummy salsa and it's green... perfect for a gross Halloween recipe. You can even pour it right into a bowl and serve it with chips.

You can also mix equal amounts of whipped cream cheese to it and stir to mix it well. This salsa will be a thicker finished dish since the whipped cream cheese thickens it up. This is a tasty, and very easy to make Halloween party dip recipe.

Another Gooey Green Dip - No Salsa This Time

Here is another fun and easy to make Halloween dip recipe that you can use to thrill and feed your family or party guests. It seems I am craving spinach this year since many of the recipes I am using have spinach in them. Spinach is a great ingredient to add to a Halloween dip because the green color is kind of gross.

Ingredients:

  • 10 oz Frozen Chopped Spinach - thawed & squeeze to drain
  • 1/2 cup of Sour Cream (you can also use light sour cream to save calories)
  • 5 tablespoons of Mayonnaise (you can use light mayo)
  • 1/3 cup of Parmigiano Cheese
  • 1/4 cup of Scallions - chopped
  • A Dash of Pepper - to taste

Directions:

Mix all the ingredients in a bowl... stir and mix well. Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes before serving. That's all there is to it... serve this dip with chips.

Baked Green Spinach Artichoke Dip

Here is a dip that you have to put in the oven... and it's best served hot with chips.

Ingredients:

  • 1 8 oz. pkg. Cream Cheese - softened
  • 1 12 oz. jar Marinated Artichoke Hearts - drained & chopped
  • 1 10 oz pkg. Frozen Chopped Spinach - thawed & drained
  • 1/2 cup Mozzarella Cheese - shredded
  • 1/2 cup Parmesan Cheese - grated
  • 1/2 tsp. of Garlic Powder

Directions:

Mix the ingredients well and place in a preheated oven set at 350 degrees.

I like to spray my 9 X 11 baking dish (I use glass - Pyrex) with a cooking spray

Bake your dip 20 - 25 minutes and serve hot with chips.
