The Proscenic T22 Air Fryer

The Proscenic T22 Air Fryer

Earlier this year, I reviewed the Tokit Omni Cook. This kitchen appliance—a cross between an electric pot and food processor—could connect online and download thousands of recipes. Each recipe provided explicit directions, ensuring even inept cooks like me could prepare gourmet meals. The online recipes even controlled the cooker, causing it to slice, dice, and heat the ingredients at a touch of a button.

Today I am taking a close look at the Proscenic T22 Air Fryer. Like the Tokit, this device can be connected to the internet. Recipes and cooking instructions are handled by an application that can be downloaded to your smartphone. It is compatible with Alexa and Google Home.

Some people are wary of using their phones to control kitchen appliances. Happily, this air fryer comes with a handy recipe book and is very easy to use. There is no requirement to download and install the application.

The Proscenic T22 Air Fryer arrived well-packed within a cardboard box. This shiny black-colored device is 12 inches tall, 10.7 inches wide, and 14.6 inches deep.

A touchscreen occupying the top surface of this fryer includes temperature controls, a timer, and a variety of presets used to cook a wide selection of items. A wifi indicator will remain steadily on when this device is connected to the internet.

The lightweight Teflon-covered fryer basket is fitted with a removable grill insert which allows excess fat to drip below the food as it is cooked.

This device can be controlled by an application that may be downloaded to a smartphone. A recipe book is also provided.

How an Air Fryer Functions

Air fryers are countertop convection ovens that cook food utilizing a swiftly spinning fan in conjunction with a heating element.

The heated air blown constantly against the food’s exposed surface cooks the food, resulting in a tasty and often crispy crust.

Air fryers can bake, roast, and grill noticeably faster than a full-sized oven due to the use of convection heating and their more modest size.

The Proscenic Application

This program provides access to the same recipes available in the accompanying book. It also allows specific recipes to be selected and begins the cooking process at the proper temperature and timer settings.

Roasted Garlic and Herb Chicken

I opened the Proscenic Application, selected the appropriate recipe, and scanned the list of ingredients. Then I mixed a combination of olive oil, garlic powder, salt, pepper, thyme, rosemary, and tarragon. After coating my chicken thighs with this mixture, I allowed them to marinate in the fridge for 30 minutes.

The following steps were to preheat the air fryer for five minutes and then carefully place my marinated chicken thighs into its fryer basket. I then reopened the recipe in the application and pressed the start button.

The application selected the proper temperature and began a 20-minute timer. Once the timer completed its cycle, the fryer turned off.

The chicken proved to be moist and tasty, with a slightly crispy crust. While I enjoyed the flavor, it was a little saltier than I prefer. I will decrease the amount of salt used in the coating next time.

Barbecued Bacon

I mixed a selection of ingredients consisting of brown sugar, chili powder, cumin, and cayenne pepper. Then, as I preheated the air fryer, I coated eight half-strips of bacon with this seasoning.

Once the air fryer was ready, I added the bacon to its basket. Then I pressed the button representing bacon on the fryer’s touchscreen.

After eight minutes, the device turned off. I removed the cooked bacon and enjoyed my delightfully spicy snack.

Santa Maria Ribeye

For my final experiment, I selected three small boneless steaks with a total weight of 16 ounces. The first step was to mix a combination of salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, oregano, rosemary, cayenne pepper, and sage.

Then, while preheating the fryer, I spread this mixture over the steaks and added a drizzle of olive oil.

I placed the three prepared portions into the fryer basket and selected the touchscreen icon representing steak. Because I prefer my meat to be well-done, I adjusted the timer to 12 minutes.

The steaks were tender and delicious.

Overall Impression

The Proscenic T22’s fryer basket provides ample room—I was able to fit three small steaks into it—for cooking food, and the entire device demands only a moderate amount of counter space

The application functioned correctly, although I found the fryer’s touchscreen to be a more convenient method of controlling this device.

This air fryer cooks food quickly, locking in much of its moisture while allowing excess fat to drip to the bottom of the fryer basket. The Proscenic T22 Air Fryer is recommended.
