Trying the New Jack in the Box Items
One of the best things about Jack in the Box is they are always reinventing their menu and creating foods—without getting rid of your favorites. It's what keeps me coming back. They also serve breakfast and lunch all day, which means you can have both at any time. This worked well for me since their new food items included both breakfast and lunch food.
Note About My Photos
Because of the pandemic, whenever I get fast food, I take it out of the wrappers and put it on a plate. All of the photos below show the food outside of their wrappers.
1. Bagel Breakfast Sandwiches
I got very excited when I saw that Jack in the Box was making bagel breakfast sandwiches. As a kid, my favorite fast food restaurant was McDonald's, and I used to eat their bacon, egg, and cheese bagel all the time. Then they stopped selling it anywhere near me and while I've tried to make it at home on occasion, it just wasn't the same.
Overall, Jack in the Box's breakfast sandwiches has always been decent. My favorite is the Supreme Croissant. All three of these bagel breakfast sandwiches taste similar to their other breakfast sandwiches because it's the same egg, cheese, and meat inside of them, just a different outside. So if you like their other breakfast sandwiches, you will like these, too.
The bagel itself is decent, it tastes like something you could buy at a grocery store.
The bagel sandwiches come in three varieties:
- Bacon, Egg, and Cheese
- Sausage, Egg, and Cheese
- The Stacked Bagel: 2 sausages, 2 pieces of cheese, 2 eggs, and 2 pieces of ham
I wish they had a variety with just the ham or the ham and the bacon because I really like their ham. The stacked bagel isn't bad, but it's kind of too much, so I prefer either just the sausage or just the bacon.
Overall, I thought these bagel sandwiches were a decent idea for their menu.
2. Cluck Sandwich
The cluck sandwiches were my favorite item that they added to the menu. Jack In the Box has always been good at making chicken sandwiches, but these are one level above the rest. The chicken was flavorful and well-breaded, with just the right amount of crunch.
They were obviously made to compete with Chick-Fil-A sandwiches, but they are different from those at the same time. The regular cluck sandwich has secret sauce and pickles on it, while the deluxe has lettuce, tomato, guacamole, and mayonnaise.
Both of them were good, but my favorite was the regular cluck sandwich. I expected the sauce on it to be like In-N-Out sauce, but it wasn't. It was creamy, but it also had a spicy kick to it and the pickles perfectly complemented that.
The deluxe had a more light and fresh taste, which was awesome as well.
3. Tiny Tacos
I like the tiny tacos better than the full-sized tacos. They're more fun to eat when they're bite-sized, even though they taste the same as the larger tacos. They also come in more varieties that add flavor to them. These varieties are regular and fully loaded.
The regular ones come with an avocado lime sauce, but you have to request the sauce in order to get it. The sauce gives it a nice, sour kick because of the lime in it, which greatly enhances its flavor. Also, it's fun to dip the tiny tacos into the sauce like they're taco-flavored chips.
The loaded ones are also delicious. They have taco sauce on them, so they're spicier than the other ones. Also, they have a lot of cheese on them and lettuce, which makes eating them feel like you're eating nachos. I think I'd like to eat these with the avocado lime sauce poured on them as well. The only problem with them, though, is they get partly soggy from all the toppings.
4. Sauced and Loaded Tots
Tater tots are always delicious. These weren't not soggy, but they also weren't crunchy.
The jalapeño ones, while they are spicy, do not otherwise have a good flavor.
The cheddar bacon ones have the same toppings as the cheddar bacon potato wedges. If you like those, you will like these. I think using tater tots instead of wedges actually slightly improves the flavor. These are better than the wedges, but I think it's redundant for their menu to have both of these items.
