Twisted X Brewing Company Handcrafted Beer in Texas
The long and short of it is that I would give this place five stars.
The Twisted X Brewery is a great place to taste handcrafted beer. You can enjoy their live music & food trucks. I recommend trying their Twisted X Collection, which features specially-made flight paddles featuring 4.5 oz. samples.
What Beers Do They Offer?
The tasting room features flights of up to 6 varieties available. Flights normally include the four core beers that they carry year round: Austin Lager, Fuego Jalapeno Pilsner, Cow Creek Dark Lager, and the Chupahopra Dry-Hopped IPA, with the addition of two other specialty beers only available at the Dripping Springs location.
This establishment has been creating handcrafted beer since 2009 and specializes in "Tex-Mex" beer.
The dark lager is aged in Garrison Brothers' Whiskey Barrels, giving it an extra kick.
My favorite beer was the Jalapeno Pilsner. I also loved their newest creation, the Hye-Biscus (The Hye-Biscus is a seasonal beer and is an American-style ale with hibiscus flowers).
- The Austin Lager is a German-inspired lager made with pilsner malt and select German hops.
- The Chupahopra is a classic IPA brewed to perfection with pilsner base malt and choice American hops.
- Cow Creek is an amber lager brewed with pilsner, Vienna, and select specialty malts.
- Later Days is a West Coast-style IPA artfully crafted with generous amounts of citra & mosaic hops.
Another one of my favorite beers is the Michelada. It is made with light beer, tomato juice, lime juice, salt or celery salt, Worcestershire sauce, hot sauce, and is garnished with a lime. The bartender at the Twisted X was more than happy to fix me up.
Great Place to Celebrate
We celebrated my mother's 77th Birthday at the Twisted X Brewery. As you can see from the photos, my mom had a great time as we toasted her birthday and tasted the beer. We enjoyed some nachos from the food truck, listened to great music, enjoyed the wonderful Texas weather, shared a few jokes and felt blessed to spend these wonderful moments with each other.
My hobby is photography and things to do in Central Texas. This has to be one of my favorite places, located only 25 minutes from South Austin, TX.
I love the way they have this brewery set up, with the metal barn-like building and the indoor and outdoor picnic atmosphere. I especially liked the tree art on the oak tree with the gargoyle. It was an innovative way to solve the problem of the dead oak tree.
The brewery was clean and well-maintained. Pets are welcome as long as they are on a leash. The only problem I saw was a lack of parking; however, it looks like they are working on resolving the issue.
We enjoyed nachos and queso with our flights of beer from the food truck located outside near the picnic tables. They also serve BBQ and hamburgers. But we were saving those calories for dinner at the famous Salt Lick BBQ (FYI, plan your day if you decide to have dinner at the Salt Lick BBQ, because the average waiting time to be served is at least an hour). The Salt Lick closes at 10 PM and is cash only (ATMs are available on site). We had so much fun at the brewery. Once we decided to have dinner, it was going on 8:30 PM. We were seated around 9:30. While we enjoyed our BBQ, I wished we would have gone sooner.
