Grocery Shopping From Home Review

Shop Rite Grocery Delivery

Shop Rite offers home delivery for many grocery items that can be purchased directly from their website. has a variety of food and household products that can be delivered right to your front door. To begin using this service, you must register on the Shop Rite website and sign up for an account.

I have been using Shop Rite's home delivery service for over a year now. When I go to the website, I can search for products by typing the name of the product into their search engine. This helps me find the product I am looking for right away. There is also an option to browse specific categories of products. Almost every product has a photo so that you can see what the actual product looks like. The price and size of the product are displayed, as well. When I find the particular product that I am looking for, I click on it to add it to my cart. I also like that the products can be displayed by price, such as the lowest cost to the highest cost.

I feel that Shop Rite has more of a variety of products available on its website than other grocery delivery services that I have used. I like to have a lot of variety of products and brand names to choose from.

Saved Cart

When you shop for groceries and add items to your cart, you do not have to check out immediately after shopping. Your cart can be saved on the website. For example, if you choose to shop and place items into your cart on Monday, then you can go back on the website again on Wednesday, and the items that you placed into your cart will still be there. This is good for those who are busy and do not have time to do a grocery order all at one time.

If you have a price plus card, you can use it for discounts and savings on certain products online, just like you would in the actual store. If you do not have one, you can sign up for a price plus card on the website. Sometimes Shop Rite offers promo codes for cash off if you spend a certain amount on groceries. These codes will usually be sent to you via email, or you can find them posted on the website. An example of a cash off promo code would be receiving $30 off of your grocery order for spending $200 in groceries. That's $30 of free groceries, so I always try to spend the amount in the promotion if I can.

Once I have finished shopping for my order, and my cart is full, I then use the checkout option to complete the purchase. I pick a day and time for my groceries to be delivered to my house. Usually, the time frames for delivery are in a two-hour window. So if I want to receive my groceries in the morning, I will choose the 9:00 am–11:00 am time slot. There are different time slots throughout the day. Groceries can either be picked up at a Shop Rite store, or they can be delivered to your home. There is also a mobile app that you can download if you own a phone with this capability. The Shop Rite mobile app allows you to shop and pay for your groceries right on the app. This is a very convenient service.

On-Time, Friendly Service

All of my grocery deliveries from Shop Rite have been delivered on time within the time frame that I had selected. The delivery drivers are always polite and mannerly, and they carry the groceries to my front door.

Out Of Stock Items

Since using Shop Rite's online grocery delivery, I have encountered a few problems, but nothing that has made me stop using the service. Most times, a few items will be out of stock. I almost always receive a phone call about certain products being out of stock or how the employee can not find the particular product I am looking for. I do not expect everything to be in stock at all times, but if you are expecting to purchase a particular brand of a product and it is out of stock, you may have to substitute for a different brand. If you do not wish to purchase the substitution, then you may have to go to a physical store and find the brand or product you are looking for. What I do like is that the employees will call you to let you know which items are out of stock so that they can offer you a substitution, if one is available.

Missing Groceries

Occasionally, a few items will be missing from my order after the groceries have been delivered. However, I have called customer service to resolve this issue, and they have always handled it in an efficient and kind manner. If you choose to use this service, you may want to make sure that you have received all of your groceries and that none of them are missing. I have never received a damaged item from Shop Rite, but in the event that you do, call customer service so that they can possibly replace the item.

Missing Product Descriptions

While I am browsing for products on the Shop Rite website, I notice that there are no descriptions for some of the items. I would like to see the nutrition facts and ingredients, but they are not always posted. If you are looking for this kind of information as well, you might want to look up the product and brand name online in a search engine to find the nutrition facts.

Expensive Delivery Charge

I do not like the cost of delivery for this service as I feel it is a little too expensive. I pay $15.99 to have the groceries delivered to my house. Compared to other online grocery delivery services that I have used in the past, this delivery price is the highest. I feel Shop Rite carries a wider selection of groceries than other grocery delivery sites, so I will continue using it. However, the cost of delivery is what sometimes deters me from using the home grocery delivery from Shop Rite service as often as I would like.

All in all, I would recommend Shop Rite's home delivery service, especially to those who are housebound or have small children and find it difficult to get out of the house. Despite a few small drawbacks, there are good promotions, coupons, and sales, and there is a good variety of products to choose from. Also, their service is pretty reliable, friendly, and convenient. The food that has been delivered to my house has always been fresh. accepts payments in the form of credit, debit, Paypal, and even EBT access cards, also known as food stamps.

Questions & Answers

  • Can I pay with cash if I'm using ShopRite?

Yes, cash is accepted but I think it depends on the actual ShopRite store itself. You would have to call the ShopRite in your area that will be delivering to your home to see if they accept cash payment.

  • Can I add something to my Shop Rite order after it went through?

You can call Shop Rite. Ask to be connected to the Shop Rite From Home department. Then you can tell them what you would like to be added to your order.

  • Can I pay for my order from home with my PayPal account?

I am not sure if your local ShopRite will accept PayPal, but mine does not. You may have to call your local store and ask. Also, when you checkout your cart on the website, you can see what forms of payment are accepted.

  • Can the shop from home groceries be paid for through a debit card?

Yes, you can use your debit card to pay for groceries while shopping online.

  • I will no longer be doing ShopRite from home since they don't accept payment upon delivery and I don't like using my credit card online. Will I have to switch grocery stores for home delivery?

If you do not want to place your credit card online, is there any way you can obtain a Visa or MasterCard gift card from a store? This way you do not have to use your credit card. Another way to pay online without using your credit card is to buy a ShopRite gift card and use that as payment instead.

One of the most difficult systems to be used. looses items, time slots, difficult / impossible to find items if not on flyer that week. You would think with all the ordering being done they would keep up with the ordering part of the system.

So sorry this happened to you. You may want to do a google search and see if any other grocery stores in your area will deliver and accept SNAP benefits.

I have patronized Shoprite for almost twenty years and as so, I have been proud to say I can shop from home with SHOPRITE. All of a sudden, a couple months ago, that consideration have been yanked from under my feet. AND IT'S BECAUSE I'M A SNAP RECIPIENT. How sad!!! The senior citizens are not considered with more services.

I ordered through for my dad, he is disabled and couldn't go to the grocery store anymore. I had a very positive experience with it. They have coupons that get e-mailed to you and I feel that I saved money by not impulse buying and buying this only on sale with the price plus card. Very simple and well written article. You are a great writer!
