Ohhhh So Good
My parents own a farm where they raise sheep, and just recently, my husband and I decided to trade and acquire a few sheep of our own. One of these went to the slaughter and, suddenly, I had several lamb ribs and I was at a loss on how to prepare them and still have an amazing flavor. So, as my favorite thing seems to be, I began searching.
To be honest, my mother had tried several recipes and they were okay, but not something to really rave about. I had to figure out an idea on how to fix that problem. After hours of searching, constantly asking others who prepared their owns, and trial and error, I finally discovered this recipe, and boy am I ever glad I created this combination! It truly is wonderful and as long as you allow the lamb to remain in the slow cooker for at least 8-9 hours, you are definitely going to be excited to sit down and enjoy this meal.
While I haven't tried it with beef ribs (and we do not eat pork), I am fairly confident that they would be just as amazing as the lamb turns out. Not only this, but as with most slow cooker recipes, you truly have time to begin looking forward to dinner as the wonderful aroma begins to fill your home. Plus, the meat literally falls off the bone and you have a meal that everyone will enjoy!
Just a Little Information
One of the few things that people realize about lamb is that when prepared correctly, it truly is one of the greatest choices of meat. It has a wonderful flavor and is really unlike many other meats. The vitamin values are a wonderful contribution as well.
The only thing is that one must remember that when preparing lamb, if you do not use flavor or spices, then it is not that great. If you do not allow it the proper amount of cooking time, or over cook the meat, it also is not good. These are the key points in remembering when trying to prepare lamb.
Another thing to keep in mind, when you remove lamb from its cooking source, it will continue cooking for a few minutes. This is normal. Also, when you are preparing lamb, don't be afraid to experiment a little. Rosemary and garlic are the essentials, everything else is a guessing game.

What Do I Need to Make This?
- 3 lbs. lamb ribs
- 1 bottle bbq sauce, (we prefer cattlmen's with this)
- 1 bottle catalina salad dressing
- 1 med. onion, diced
- 3 tsp. fresh rosemary, diced
- 2 cloves of diced garlic
How Do We Prepare This?
- Lightly spray the the slow cooker or line with slow cooker liner.
- Lay the ribs in the bottom of the slow cooker.
- Layer with the onion, rosemary and diced garlic.
- Combine the Catlina and BBQ sauce and pour over the top of the ribs.
- Cover and cook on low 9-10 hours.
What to Serve With the Lamb Ribs
One of the most interesting things I discover when speaking to people is that if they figure out how to prepare the lamb is what to serve with it. Normally, I prefer garlic roasted red potatoes, sauteed mushrooms, and a salad (fruit salads are great). Another consideration is artisean bread and fresh corn. Just try to stick with something simple.
