Minnesota Cooking: Green Beans in Butter With Onion Bits

  • 2 cups green beans
  • 1/4 cup onion, minced
  • 1/2 teaspoon Greek Seasoning
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 1/2 stick melted butter


  1. Wash beans. Cut ends off. Place in microwaveable dish. Add onions.
  2. Melt 1/2 stick of butter and pour over beans and onions. Sprinkle with Greek Seasoning Salt, add 3 tablespoons of water Cover with plastic wrap and place in microwave for 9 minutes

Wash and cut ends of beans. I like to sort out any beans that have dry or black spots and discard them.

Cut ends off beans. Place beans in microwaveable dish. Slice onion and sprinkle over beans. Sprinkle the Greek Seasoned Salt over the beans and dribble butter around over all the beans. Add two teaspoons of water and place plastic wrap over the dish.

Put in the microwave on high or 9 minutes. The instructions in my book says 9 to 13 minutes, but I don't like my beans to get shriveled up from over cooking.
