Indian Street Food (Chaat) With Healthy Sprouts

Sprouts are a very nutritious food as the process of sprouting increases the content of sprouted seeds several times over.

In preparing chaat, the most common sprouts that may be used are moong dal (mung beans), moth dal (mat beans) and kala chana (Bengal gram).

Today, we are preparing a very healthy and delicious sprouts chaat made with sprouted mung beans, mat beans, veggies and two different chutneys. Do try it and share your experience.

  • 1/2 cup sprouted sabut moong dal (mung beans)
  • 1/2 cup sprouted moth dal (mat beans)
  • 3 tablespoons chopped tomatoes
  • 3 tablespoons chopped onions
  • 2-3 tablespoons chopped hara dhania (cilantro)
  • 3 tablespoons chopped boiled potatoes
  • 3 tablespoons peeled and chopped cucumber
  • 1 chopped green chilli
  • 1/4 teaspoon kala namak (black salt)
  • 1/4 teaspoon chaat masala
  • 1 tablespoon raw mango tangy chutney
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons hari (green chutney)
  • 1 lemon, juiced


  1. In a mixing bowl, add the sprouted sabut moong dal, sprouted moth dal, chopped tomatoes, onions, hara dhania, boiled potatoes, cucumber and green chilli. Mix well.
  2. Add the kala namak, chaat masala, raw mango tangy chutney, hari chutney and lemon juice. Mix well again.
  3. Sprouts chaat is ready to serve.
