Greek Tahini Pie Dessert Recipe
What Is Tahini Pie?
Tahini pie is a traditional sweet found in Greek, Turkish, Cypriot, and Armenian cuisines. It is made with tahini, and it contains no oil or butter. It's very tasty and beloved by children and adults alike. And since it doesn't have any oil or butter, you can enjoy it without the guilt!

Ingredients
- 3 cups self-raising flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon soda powder
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon powder
- 1 teaspoon ginger powder
- 1/2 teaspoon carnation powder
- 3/4 cup honey
- 1/2 cup crystal sugar
- 200 grams tahini
- 1/2 cup warm water
- 1/2 cup black raisins
- 1/2 cup dry wine
- 1/2 cup orange juice
- 1 orange, zested
- Powdered sugar, to sprinkle on top
Instructions
- In a bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, cinnamon, carnation, and ginger.
- In a small bowl or cup, combine the raisins and wine. Set aside.
- In a separate bowl, combine the sugar, tahini, honey, and water. Mix to get a thick mixture. Slowly add the dry ingredients (from step 1) to the wet ingredients. Blend well.
- In a cup, rapidly combine the baking soda, orange juice and zest and then pour it into the batter. Continue mixing.
- Add the raisin and wine mixture (from step 2) and blend.
- Pour the batter into a nonstick round pan of 32 centimeters (approximately 12 inches). Bake for about 1 hour at 180 degrees C. When it's out of the oven, leave it to cool down, and then sprinkle powdered sugar on top.
